There are several options how to get from Prague airport to Plzeň (Pilsen) and back from Plzeň to Prague airport. The cheapest way to get from Prague to Pilsen if you travel alone is by train or bus, but if you travel in a group private transfer is a better option.
2.1 Direct transfer from Prague airport to Plzeň

2.2 Go to Prague railway station and continue from Prague to Plzeň by train
You can go to Prague center and continue from Prague to Pilsen by a train or bus. This is not so comfortable as the previous ways but it is probably the cheapest option.
Prague Airport in Ruzyně is situated 12 km west of the center of Prague. For your transfer from Prague Airport to City Centre you can also use taxi, hire a car, use a service Airport Express or public transport (bus and metro) for the transport to the main railway station (Wilsonova 300/8, Prague) and continue from Prague to Pilsen by train.
The journey from Prague airport to Prague main railway station is not extra easy and comfortable, because there is no direct connection from the airport to Prague center as in other capitals. But the building of direct train connection from Prague Airport to Prague main railway station should start in 2022. Until this date we have to use another options:
The most easy and also most expensive way is to take a taxi. But be careful about taking a taxi from the taxi line, as many tourists report being overcharged.
By private transfer
Public transport (abbreviation PID)
The cheapest way. You can get from the airport to the main railway station in Prague by using of public transport. Simply buy a ticket in the Prague Public Transportation INFOCENTRE marked by (METRO –TRAM-BUS) in the airport at a cost of about $1.60 (for 90 minutes) and then find Bus 119 located directly outside of airport. Don´t forget to validate your ticket in the bus.
From the airport, Bus 119 will take you to the A Line (green) metro station Veleslavín in about 15 minutes. From this metro station, you can use the same ticket you purchased at the airport to go another 10 minutes by metro into the Prague city center (MUZEUM) and then to switch to C Line (red) and go to the station “Hlavní nádraží” (Main railway station).

Airport Express is a special airport bus, which operates daily at regular 30-minute intervals. This bus takes you directly from Prague airport to the Main railway station in Prague Center. Tickets are available by the driver for USD 3 for adults and USD 1,5 for kids. In the direction of Václav Havel Airport Prague, this connection can be used from 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and in the opposite direction from 5:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. In addition, there is a morning connection to the airport departing at 5:30. #3 How to get from Prague to Pilsen by train?
The Czech Republic has one of the densest railway networks in Europe. Plzeň lies 90 kilometres southwest of Prague. So, the transportation from Prague to Plzeň is quite easy by a direct train from Praha (Hlavní Nádraží), which runs several times a day. Train costs for one way (Prague to Pilsen) are 4 EUR or you can buy the return ticket which is cheaper than two one way tickets. It takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes to reach Plzeň (Hlavní Nádraží) on a modern and comfortable train. Getting from Prague to Pilsen by train is cheap and comfortable.
You don´t need to buy train tickets from Prague to Pilsen in advance but during some days can be the train more full than in other days. Especially Friday´s afternoon or before national holydays, when many students return home from their studies in Prague.
Coming to Pilsen by train is possible even from the direction of Germany.
How to get to Pilsen from Munich by a train?
Plzeň has also a train connection with the Bavarian Capital Munich, where is a huge airport. The journey from Munich by a train takes 4 hours and 10 minutes.
Getting to Pilsen it is also possible via the airport in Nuremberg in Germany. This airport is small and cute, you can continue to Plzeň by a train, but you have to change once or two times. Getting to Pilsen in Czech Republic by a train is possible also from Munich or Nuremberg.
